Kelly Clarkson gifted pop music with one of its all-time most memorable choruses when she released “Stronger (What Doesn’t Kill You)” in 2011. But after more than a decade of singing the song at presumably every concert she’s performed since, it all becomes a blur to her. During a recent game of Pop Pop Quiz with Anne Hathaway on The Kelly Clarkson Show, the singer remembered the words to her own song but forgot she was the one who sang it.

Originating during the 2019 global pandemic, it has since become a widespread practice in the industry.

Kelly Clarkson shared her own challenging pregnancy stories amid last week’s Arizona Supreme Court decision to allow the state to prepare to enforce a near-total abortion ban based on an 1864 law.
On Monday, Clarkson spoke to former Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton about the Arizona court decision on The Kelly Clarkson Show. Clinton was on to promote Suffs, the Broadway musical about the women’s suffrage movement in America, which the former secretary of state is involved in as a producer.
“Did you ever think in your lifetime we would see that happen?” Clarkson asked Clinton of what’s happening in Arizona. “It’s just insane to me, the thinking that went on in 1864. It’s a very different world. We know a lot more now. We are going backwards.”

Jake Gyllenhaal is not bouncing from Amazon MGM Studios after “Road House.” The actor’s Nine Stories production company has closed a three-year first-look film deal with Amazon MGM Studios. The arrangement gives Amazon the right of first-refusal on narrative features by Nine Stories; it applies to both theatrical and streaming. It sounds exactly like the deal Amazon just signed Ryan Gosling to all of six days ago.
But this story is about Gyllenhaal. The actor presently stars in the Prime Video-exclusive “Road House” reboot, which Amazon says has drawn more than 50 million viewers worldwide over its first two weekends, Amazon said on Monday. It’s a Prime Video record.
The road to getting “Road House” on streaming was a bumpy one. Director Doug Liman says when Amazon purchased MGM, his film was quietly slated for streaming against his wishes. Liman originally planned to boycott his film’s SXSW premiere,...

Amazon MGM Studios has closed a three-year first-look film deal with Jake Gyllenhaal’s Nine Stories following the rousing success of his movie Road House on Prime Video, which was the most watched original movie for the studio ever with 50 million global viewers in the pic’s first two weeks.
Under the actor’s new deal, Amazon MGM will have a first look on narrative features Nine Stories intends to produce for both theatrical and streaming.
Prior to the Doug Liman-directed Road House, Gyllenhaal made the movie Guy Ritchie’s The Covenant with Amazon MGM. The pic was released last year in theaters.
Oscar- and Tony-nominated Gyllenhaal founded Nine Stories in 2015 with Riva Marker, a fully capitalized production company dedicated to working with visionary storytellers in all fields. Most recently, Nine Stories produced Antoine Fuqua’s The Guilty, starring Gyllenhaal, which was Netflix’s No. 1 film for more than three weeks.

The reactions to Saturday Night Live’s episode hosted by Timothée Chalamet are coming in and Britney Spears’ manager is not happy about the parody the show did about the Princess of Pop.
“Wow. The writers of SNL are getting worse and worse,” Cade Hudson shared on social media. “No wonder you all reached out to me to get Britney on the show… SNL is on life support.”
Hudson continued, “You all are pathetic and this Chloe [Fineman] isn’t funny. Did you find her on Craigslist or something?”
In the pre-taped sketch, Fineman reprised her impersonation of Spears. This time, the sketch revolved around the “Stronger” singer’s memoir “The Woman in Me.” Clips of the audiobook narrated by Michelle Williams went viral on social media and this is where the SNL idea came from in showcasing the supposed casting process to find the best person for the job.

Could anyone have foreseen the legitimately fascinating trajectory of David Gordon Green's career as a director? After helming gritty, dramatic fare like "George Washington" and "All the Real Girls" as a newbie filmmaker, Green suddenly pivoted hard in the opposite direction, tackling the genre-blending stoner flicks "Pineapple Express" and "Your Highness." He would only branch out further from there, trying his hand at everything from uplifting true-story films ("Stronger") to grounded crime dramas ("Joe"), darkly satirical TV series, and even heavily-fictionalized, anachronism-infested biographical series with big Millennial energy ("Dickinson").
Green has since continued this trend of swerving from one type of storytelling to a radically different one with "The Exorcist: Believer" (read /Film's review), a legacy sequel to William Friedkin's Og "Exorcist" and the follow-up to Green's divisive "Halloween" trilogy. While they may both reside in the horror genre, the gonzo slasher universe of the "Halloween" franchise is...

Rapper Kanye West’s lack of hygiene has been turning his wife Bianca Censori off amid their global vacation. “He wears these outfits partly because he genuinely believes they showcase his fashion genius and forward-thinking,” a source told Radar Online of Ye’s trademark mask and heavy layers despite the summer heat. “But it’s also to cover him having gained a little weight,” reports aceshowbiz.com.
The “Gold Digger” emcee’s fashion choice, however, came with a stinky consequence for his wife.
The insider went on to say: “It’s a serious stench when the layers come off and he’s dripping in sweat head to toe – especially as he’s not big on showering – and poor Bianca’s nostrils are on the receiving end.”
Another source echoed the sentiment, commenting on Ye who was recently photographed wearing a head wrap, a double layer of shirts, loose pants and tight Spandex wraps in Italy.

Olivia Rodrigo’s sophomore studio album, “Guts,” is already looking like another big success for the pop starlet. It’s led by the single “Vampire,” which topped the Billboard Hot 100 while earning acclaim from critics and audiences alike. “Guts” is slated for a September 8 release, meaning it would just qualify for this Grammy season. Coming off three Grammys for her “Sour” era, Rodrigo is already being touted as a possible winner in some categories for 2024, particularly in the pop field. But could Rodrigo beat what looks like an unbeatable album by Taylor Swift, “Midnights“?
SEEOlivia Rodrigo (‘Vampire’): Fans say ‘that girl has some balls’ as they react to her bold new single and video [Watch]
Obviously the album hasn’t come out yet, but if “Vampire” is any indication, “Guts” will likely have a similar sound to “Sour” but with a bit more maturity. This could be just what Rodrigo needs for the Grammys.

Hit me, Britney, one more time? In 2005, the Lady of the Lake in Monty Python’s Spamalot lamented, “I’m constantly replaced by Britney Spears.” These days, a lot of composers trying to get their scores onto Broadway stages could sing the same lyric: Spears’s music burst onto Broadway in Moulin Rouge in 2019 (“Toxic” appears in a mashup alongside Lady Gaga’s “Bad Romance”) and five of her songs appear in the jukebox musical & Juliet, including “…Baby One More Time,” “Oops!…I Did It Again,” and “Stronger.”
All four of those songs feature in the first all-Britney musical, Once Upon a One More Time, a frivolously delightful entry into the jukebox genre. Even though recent Broadway seasons have brought pro forma biographical musicals like Tina: The Tina Turner Musical, Mj, and A Beautiful Noise, there’s been far greater pleasure in shows like Moulin Rouge, & Juliet, and the delirious...

As we creep towards summer, Netflix has a hot new list of fresh content, including the final season of “Never Have I Ever,” the sophomore season of ‘Human Resources” and the highly anticipated sixth season of “Black Mirror.”
Kicking off the start of the month on mega streamer are lots of family-friendly goodies like both “Nanny McPhee” and “Nanny McPhee Returns,” “Kicking and Screaming,” “Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius” and the “Angry Birds Movie.” But the adults won’t be left out of the conversation, as more mature flicks and series like “Jarhead,” “Funny People” and “We’re the Millers” are also hitting the platform this month.
And it wouldn’t be Netflix without its originals. “Take Care of Maya,” “Extraction 2” and the Sarah Snook-led “Run Rabit Run” will land on the site in June. And even if this isn’t enough to get you watching, Netflix will be streaming its Tudum festival on Saturday,...

Plot: During the war in Afghanistan, a U.S. Army Sergeant (Jake Gyllenhaal) is saved from capture by the Taliban by his interpreter (Dar Salim). After returning home, he discovers that the man he owes his life to has vanished and has a price on his head, leading to him embarking on a desperate mission to repay his debt.
Review: Guy Ritchie’s The Covenant is a welcome change of pace for the director. While Ritchie is well-known for embracing a cheeky sense of humour in many of his action movies (most recently in Operation Fortune: Ruse du Guerre), this one is more along the lines of his earlier Wrath of Man, eschewing any sense of levity to tell a profoundly affecting war story. Sad clips from films, TV shows and TikTok are being spliced together over melancholy music – and they’re raising a smile among hopeless young people
Jimmy Nguyen, an 18-year-old student, saw his first “corecore” video on TikTok in January. He can’t remember which one it was – there are so many of them now. But he says it was typical of this new trend of video: other TikTok videos, celebrity or podcaster interviews, TV show and film clips spliced together over some sad or ambient music. They’re depressing, full of existential dread and usually on the theme of disconnection and alienation. Nguyen initially thought, like other users, that these videos were a joke. They’re crudely edited and the name in itself is a sarcastic reference to the proliferation of micro-trends emerging from TikTok since 2020. But he was soon staying up late at night in his bedroom making corecore of his own.

There are few 2010s songs as iconic as Fun’s number-one hit “We Are Young” featuring Janelle Monáe. It introduced the world to both Fun — and most importantly, soon-to-be-world-renowned producer Jack Antonoff, who was a member of the band — as well as acclaimed singer and actress Monáe. “We Are Young” itself was much loved, going on to win the Grammy for Song of the Year with additional nominations for Record of the Year and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance.
Released in September 2011, “We Are Young” was very much a product of its time. Its popularity was spurred by its feature on the popular TV show “Glee,” and it also was part of a new wave of indie pop hits that really ruled the year. Songs like Gotye and Kimbra’s “Somebody That I Used to Know,” Neon Trees’ “Everybody Talks,” Imagine Dragons’ “It’s Time,” and Ellie Goulding’s “Lights...

After helming the two highest-grossing films in the Halloween franchise, filmmaker David Gordon Green stuck to his guns for his trilogy capper, Halloween Ends.
