Brian Wilson has joined forces with the late Glen Campbell for a posthumous duet of Campbell’s song, “Strong.”
“Strong (with Brian Wilson)” is the latest entry in the upcoming duet collection Glen Campbell Duets — Ghost on the Canvas Sessions, which is out everywhere on April 19th. Originally appearing on Campbell’s 2011 “farewell” album Ghost on the Canvas, “Strong” is a warm, string-laden track that describes Campbell’s onset of Alzheimer’s Disease.
Campbell vows to his wife to maintain his resilience in the face of the disease, confessing, “All I want to be for you is strong.” All the while, signature harmonies from Wilson add a dreamy, hopeful feel, and Wilson shares Campbell’s verses with conviction and clarity. Listen to the song below.

Mr. Feeny must have been doing something right at John Adams High, as former Boy Meets World star Ben Savage has announced he is running for Congress in California. Now if he can get Rider Strong as his running mate…
Ben Savage posted on his Instagram this week with the caption, “I’m running for Congress because it’s time to restore faith in government by offering reasonable, innovative and compassionate solutions to our country’s most pressing issues…And it’s time for new and passionate leaders who can help move our country forward. Leaders who want to see the government operating at maximum capacity, unhindered by political divisions and special interests.” He’s even dressed up, which beats a Phillies jersey, at least…Savage ended his post with a link to his official campaign website. There isn’t much merch–only a yard sign–but a blow-up globe would be a nice touch.

Jack Kesy (12 Strong) has landed the lead role in Millennium Media’s Hellboy: The Crooked Man. Mike Mignola, creator of the Hellboy comics, wrote the screenplay with Chris Golden, and Brian Taylor (Crank) is on board to direct.
“Jack Kesy is a dynamic actor who has the ability to morph into his roles. His talent and stature are perfect for this younger Hellboy. I was very impressed with him while working together on The Outpost,” stated Co-President of Millennium Media, Jonathan Yunger.
In addition to 12 Strong and The Outpost, Kesy’s credits include Dark Web: Cicadia 3301, Without Remorse, Mosquito State, Deadpool 2, Baywatch, and Eli Roth’s Death Wish. He recently wrapped up work on Murder at Hollow Creek and Sheroes.
Ron Perlman took on the character in 2004’s Hellboy and 2008’s Hellboy II: The Golden Army, both directed by Guillermo del Toro.

I'll admit that Night Court Season 1 Episode 8 is probably my favorite offering so far this season.
There's something about doubling down on the absurdity of the court's usual clientele by adding some perennial extra craziness that rings true to the original series.
Meanwhile, learning about how (and with whom) Harry fell in love and moved upstate scratches that itch of missing him.
Remembering how the original series had several guest stars who recurred with delightful regularity, I can't help but consider the quirkier defendants we've seen for potential returns.
I suspect we won't see the vampire couple again, but Pam is in my "Strong Maybe" pile. It helps that she stuck around for multiple scenes.
Of course, being the Blood Moon, they may all be one-offs, although it would be interesting if Satan's daughter, Marsha, were to check in occasionally.
Olivia: When Satan speaks to you, is it in your head or from a dog?...

Guillaume Canet’s ambitious 64M euros (70M) production Asterix & Obelix: The Middle Kingdom was on track to be the top opener at the French box office on Wednesday, but it remains to be seen whether the film can match the success of its predecessors.
Pathé released the title on 950 screens across France in the biggest theatrical launch of early 2023 for local productions. The mini-major bankrolled the film and is also a producer alongside Alain Attal’s Tresor Films and Yohan Baiada at Les Enfants Terribles.
In first figures for the Paris region, which can be a bellwether for box office performance across the rest of the country, especially for mainstream local productions like Asterix & Obelix: The Middle Kingdom, the film scored the strongest opening.
By 2 pm local time, the film had drawn 9,091 spectators in 84 theaters, split between 3,274 admissions on 29 screens in the city and 5,817 admissions in outer Paris.

The Succession audience has been patiently waiting for news about when the Roy family drama will return, following the explosive season three finale that had everyone talking.
Now, HBO has revealed the return date for season 4 to be March 26, and the new teaser trailer (below) reveals the potential consequences ahead following the shocking betrayal that culminated in the Emmy-winning season’s final moments.
For a refresher: The late 2021 finale ended with a gesture between Logan Roy (Brian Cox) and his son-in-law Tom (Matthew Macfadyen) that signaled Tom had betrayed wife Shiv (Sarah Snook) and her siblings Kendall (Jeremy Strong) and Roman (Kieran Culkin). When Logan placed his hand on Tom’s shoulder, it was revealed to the audience that the pair had secretly collaborated amid the three Roy children seeking to halt the purchase of the family’s company, Waystar Royco, from tech billionaire Lukas Matsson (Alexander Skarsgård). In a little over a week, Jeremy Strong could win his second Emmy Award for playing Kendall Roy on “Succession.” But if “Armageddon Time” has any say in the matter, the Emmys won’t be Strong’s only brush with awards pomp and circumstance this fall. The new film from James Gray, which Focus Features debuted at the Cannes Film Festival in May and relaunched as an awards factor at the Telluride Film Festival over the weekend, features a peerless supporting performance from Strong, arguably his best film work thus far.
Gray’s film is an autobiographical drama about a young Jewish boy (Banks Repeta) growing up in Queens, New York in 1980. Strong plays a stand-in for Gray’s father, a working-class figure whose anger often boils over into violence but whose stated goal is to make sure his children have a better life than he was afforded. Set in the very near future where scientists have discovered a method of matching people with their perfect romantic fit using DNA, eight-part Netflix Original The One is technically a sci-fi drama. For this year’s annual Women Shaping the Future issue, we asked 12 of today’s top musical acts to talk about the women who have inspired them most in their lives and careers. Here, Maren Morris talks about her friendship with Sheryl Crow.
Friend, sister, highwoman: Sheryl Crow is what you want your hero to be, which is nothing that will shatter your illusions of them. I can count on one hand the people that have been that for me. Dolly Parton is one of them. Sheryl Crow is the other.

For only the second time since NBC started branding Thursday night in the early 1980s — first as “The Best Night of Television on Television” and then “Must See TV” — the lineup once dubbed “Comedy Night Done Right” will feature no comedy series.
The network today unveiled scheduling changes for late spring, which include Season 3 of Manifest replacing the 8-9 Pm Thursday comedy block currently occupied by Mr. Mayor and Superstore.
This is the first time NBC has aired an ongoing drama series in the Thursday 8 Pm hour. The previous time the network took comedies off the night completely was during the 2015-16 season, when several limited series aired in the 8 Pm time slot: The Slap, Heroes Reborn and You, Me and the Apocalypse, as well as unscripted series Strong.

This A Discovery of Witches article contains season two spoilers.
A Discovery of Witches returns for its sophomore season on Sky One and AMC/Sundance and explores a time-travel induced paradigm shift forcing star crossed lovers Diana Bishop and Matthew Clairmont to gingerly navigate 16th century London. The season two premiere introduces a fascinating new set of historical figures as the search for the Book of Life intensifies, and the romantic entanglement between the witch and the vampire remains at the heart of the tale.
As the crisis surrounding the decline of the three creatures rages on in the present, the search for the volume that details the origin of the species appears to hold answers that all three believe can stem the tide. Now in 1590 England, one of the more fascinating arcs involves the hunt for a skilled witch to instruct Diana in the control of her ever increasing powers.

Since its launch next month on CNBC, former Fox News star Shepard Smith’s “The News” has offered a mixed blessing in terms of ratings for the business-focused network. In its first month, the show has increased total viewership during the 7 p.m. Et hour by 90% over September, according to Nielsen Media Research data. The audience has also grown 120% from a year ago, when the network aired reruns of “Shark Tank” at that time. In addition, Smith has shown double-digit gains in the advertiser-coveted news demographic of viewers 25- to 54-years-old, which have risen 33% since September and 27% since last year. But Smith, who abruptly resigned as Fox News’ chief news anchor, badly trails the competition — even losing to repeats of Fox Business’ 5 p.m. Et show, “Lou Dobbs Tonight.” And he’s seen a steady erosion in audience since his Sept. 30 premiere. In total viewers, “The News” has dropped 27% since its premiere week.

Emmy winner and “Succession” star Jeremy Strong is in talks to portray the writer John Gruenn in Bradley Cooper’s “Maestro,” the Leonard Bernstein biopic for Netflix.
Strong won the Emmy last month for outstanding actor in a drama series for his portrayal of Kendall Roy in HBO’s “Succession.” He also plays Jerry Rubin in Netflix’s recent film “The Trial of the Chicago 7.” His other credits include “Lincoln,” “The Big Short” and “Molly’s Game.” Gruen wrote the authorized biography “The Private World of Leonard Bernstein,” published in 1968.
Cooper is producing, co-writing, directing and starring in “Maestro,” portraying Bernstein over a span of three decades. Bernstein became the first American to conduct a major U.S. symphony when he made his debut at 25 at the New York Philharmonic. He was nominated for an Academy Award in 1954 for composing the score for “On the Waterfront.” His career took off...

Gripping military dramas based on true events have proven to be a very popular subgenre in Hollywood throughout the 21st Century, although the results have been decidedly mixed. The Hurt Locker found plenty of awards season glory while Zero Dark Thirty, Lone Survivor and Black Hawk Down scored solid box office business and enthusiastic reviews, but lying at the other end of the spectrum are the painfully mediocre likes of Michael Bay’s 13 Hours and Chris Hemsworth vehicle 12 Strong.

Jeremy Strong, who plays high-strung son Kendall Roy in Succession, took the Emmy tonight for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series – his first Emmy nomination and first win.
Strong seemed shocked, almost speechless. “Brian Cox, I share this with you,” he said in his acceptance speech. “I read a poem by Steven Dunn. ‘All I ever wanted was a book so good I’d be finishing it for the rest of my life.’ This job was that for me,” he said. “Oh man, thank you so much,”
His performance was much lauded — angst-ridden, drug addled, power hungry yet vulnerable. But the win was a bit of a surprise. Most pundits had expected Cox, who plays his vicious screen dad and the imposing family patriarch Logan Roy, or well as Jason Bateman’s suburban mob money launderer, Marty Byrde in Ozard, to take the prize. Are you beloved CBC comedy Schitt’s Creek? Well then congrats, my friend, because you just had a hell of a night at the 2020 Emmy Awards!
Domination was the name of the game for the 72nd annual Emmy Awards, with only a handful of shows claiming the lion’s share of trophies in their respective genres. But among those dominant performers, no series was more overpowering than Schitt’s Creek in its final season. The Eugene and Dan Levy-created series went an astonishing seven-for-seven, winning in every category it was nominated in (becoming the first show ever to do so). This included all four acting categories, one writing category, one directing category, and the big one: Outstanding Comedy Series.
Following Schitt’s Creek rampage, Watchmen took over the proceedings for a bit. HBO’s latest limited series hit perhaps wasn’t as dominant as initially suspected, losing out on two acting categories...

Celina Graves, a memorable singer who hasn’t been seen since her initial “America’s Got Talent” audition, took the live stage during Tuesday’s episode and wowed all three judges. In fact, her performance of London Grammar‘s “Strong” was so “flawless” that Sofia Vergara wished she could hit her Golden Buzzer for the 30-year-old San Diego singer. Do you think Celina did enough to advance to next week’s Semifinals? Watch the “Agt” video above and read the judges’ comments below.

The 63rd Annual Grammy Awards are held in 2021, but the eligibility period for these kudos celebrating the best in music actually started on September 1, 2019, ending on August 31, 2020. So who will win Album of the Year?
This eligibility period is new for the Grammys. The recording academy moved up their calendar in 2020 in response to the Oscars, which moved their ceremony up to early February, which was when the Grammys usually aired. So the Grammys shifted their telecast to early January and adopted an eligibility calendar that ended a month earlier.

But that’s not the only change the Grammys have undergone in recent years. For the 61st annual event held in 2019, the academy expanded its top four general field categories from five nominees to eight in part as a response to criticisms over a lack of diversity among the nominees and winners.

The Grammy Award for Record of the Year goes to the artists, producers, engineers and mixers behind the year’s best recording. So who will win when awards are handed out in 2021? The eligibility period for the 63rd annual kudos is September 1, 2019 through August 31, 2020. Scroll down to see the top contenders.
The Grammy eligibility period used to be a little different. It previously ran from October 1 through September 30, but the recording academy shifted everything by a month as a result of the Oscars decision to hold their 2020 Oscars in early February, which had been the Grammys’ turf. So music’s biggest night moved to January and it tweaked its calendar. That means a lot of 2021’s major contenders had already been released by the time the 2020 awards were handed out.

Could both Billy Porter and Jodie Comer get snubbed in the lead acting categories after pulling off victories last year? How likely is it that Brian Cox and Jeremy Strong both get in for “Succession?” These were among the topics discussed when I chatted with fellow Gold Derby writers, Luca Giliberti and Riley Chow for a good, old fashioned, Gold Derby slugfest (watch the video above) centering on Best Drama Actor and Best Drama Actress.
