Shoots, da kine “Rescue Hi-Surf” is one lucky TV show, brah. Fox just gave it the cherry timeslot after Super Bowl Lix on Feb. 9, 2025. That’s a big vote of confidence for the freshman drama, which is set to premiere this fall on Monday nights at 9 p.m. Et, after “9-1-1: Lone Star.”
Although the impact of the Super Bowl lead-out has varied over the years, it proved to be a huge boon this year to CBS, which launched “Tracker” after Super Bowl Lviii on Feb. 11 and watched that drama turn into a big hit. The last time Fox aired the Super Bowl, in 2023, it ran an episode of its hit food competition series “Next Level Chef.” And in 2020, Fox aired an episode of another unscripted program, “The Masked Singer.”

Anna Diop has signed on to star opposite Corey Hawkins and Willem Dafoe in “The Man in My Basement,” directed by Nadia Latif.
The film is an adaptation of Walter Mosley’s bestselling psychological thriller, and Diop’s casting sets an onscreen reunion with Hawkins, her co-star in the 2017 series “24: Legacy.”
Hawkins stars in the movie as Charles Blakey, a man living in the African American neighborhood of Sag Harbor, who is “out of work, out of luck and on the verge of foreclosure on his ancestral home.”
“A knock on the door from a mysterious white businessman, Anniston Bennet (Dafoe), brings a bizarre and lucrative proposition; rent his dusty stand-up basement out and receive enough money to clear his debts for good,” the official synopsis explains. “Once Charles accepts, he finds himself led down a terrifying path that confronts his family’s ghosts and locks the men in a terrifying puzzle,...

Since the pandemic, Black female-driven content with universal appeal has found a home on Hulu. Stepping away from the cliched stories that have too often defined others’ efforts, each new project from the streamer, be it “The 1619 Project” or the recent “The Other Black Girl,” grows increasingly more ambitious. “Black Cake,” produced by Oprah Winfrey, pushes the boundaries even further by centering on a biracial, immigrant woman’s experience.
Adapted from Charmaine Wilkerson’s New York Times-bestselling novel of the same name, the sweeping eight-episode family drama from showrunner Marissa Jo Cerar revolves around a Jamaican Chinese woman who has lived an epic life spanning various parts of the globe. The problem is: Her past has been kept hidden from her children. Only through a flash drive of audio recordings played after her death do they learn that they know very little of her story. “If you want to make a TV drama about opium smokers, sadomasochists and imperial slavery in the 19th century, then write your own,” whines The Daily Mail‘s Peter Hitchens about Steven Knight’s new Great Expectations adaptation, presumably forgetting that in 2017, Knight did exactly that in 8-part Gothic Regency thriller Taboo.
Knight’s previous series starring Tom Hardy, bleeds into his take on Charles Dickens’ class and snobbery novel, which loses the comedy and grimes up the characters with the addition of adult content. Great Expectations returns to Knight’s constant theme of social mobility, moving away from ones roots, and the upper classes being mad, evil bastards, as explored in six series of Peaky Blinders.
Here’s the impressive cast amassed for this six-part drama.

It’s hard to think of Kiefer Sutherland without thinking of Jack Bauer, the CTU agent who foiled terrorists again and again in 24. It’s been nearly a decade since we last saw Jack Bauer in 24: Live Another Day, but the possibility of another revival of the beloved action series remains.
While speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Kiefer Sutherland explained why 24 remains so important to him and teased that he’s got a few ideas for how it could be brought back.

And I got to do it for 10 years, which is, I guarantee you, the most stable opportunity that an actor will ever be given. So for all of those reasons,...

The Strays is a thriller movie written and directed by Nathaniel Martello-White starring Ashley Madekwe.
The Strays appears to be a classic tv film with an actress that has been in hundreds of these and, however, the film has a look and theme that is more film centered close to Don´t Worry Darling or Us (the Jordan Peele movie) in its subject, although it is more English in its aesthetics.
Movie Review The Strays (2023)
This movie poses interesting considerations in a thriller, a little like the “new horror” of Peele, with intrigue that basically revolves around a greater vindication, which is entertainment in the form of a nightmare in English suburbia.
However, the great director with his ironies and suspense formulas is absent in this pic. Here the suspense is more horror and the intentions posed in the first third of the movie (especially in the look of the...

Higher prices, fewer shows and more franchise spin-offs: The bill for peak TV is coming due, and media companies are hoping they can pass on the cost to consumers and shareholders. Paramount Global’s announcement that it could write down as much as $1.5 billion in content this year as it merges Paramount+ and Showtime is just the latest sign of the newly cost-conscious stage of the streaming revolution, experts and analysts told TheWrap.
Paramount is just one of many media companies looking to rationalize their portfolios: Consider Disney’s Hulu dilemma or Warner Bros. Discovery’s pending plan to combine HBO Max and Discovery+. Love can make people do crazy things. Celebrities and actors are just like everyone else when it comes to matters of the heart.
On that note, it might not surprise people to learn that celebrity couple Matthew Davis and Kiley Casciano were only engaged for three hours before getting married.

Chicago – Starfire from the TV series “Titans” has heroically taken on another persona. Actor Anna Diop breaks out as the title character in “Nanny,” an Amazon Studios film getting a limited release in theaters on November 23rd, before streaming on the Prime Video platform beginning on December 16th.
Rating: 4.5/5.0
“Nanny” is a multi-layered and engrossing story about a caregiver in New York City named Aisha (Anna Diop), who works for an upscale couple looking after their child. She is originally from the African country of Senegal, and had to leave her young son behind to establish a new life in America. Written and directed by Nikyatu Jusu, this film won the U.S. Dramatic Grand Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival for its incisive view of class structures and immigrant experiences in America, and the ramifications of decisions that are calculated into a survival instinct.

Fox is bringing back the post-Super Bowl series lead-out, and turning to chef Gordon Ramsay to help do it. The network plans to premiere the second season of Ramsay’s “Next Level Chef” right after Super Bowl Lvii on Sunday, Feb. 12, 2023.
In announcing the time slot, Fox Entertainment chairman Charlie Collier called it “the most powerful launch pad in entertainment.”
Last year, NBC became the first network in decades to not schedule a series program behind the big game, instead opting to return to its coverage of the 2022 Winter Olympics.
When Fox previously aired the Super Bowl, in 2020, the network ran the Season 2 premiere of “The Masked Singer.” Other recent Super Bowl lead-out programs for Fox have included the premiere of “24: Legacy” (2017), the episode of “New Girl” featuring Prince (2014) and an episode of “Glee” (2011).

Over the past two decades, "24" fans have sat at the edge of their seats through 10 thrilling days in Jack Bauer's (Kiefer Sutherland) life and counting. They've also sat through a season of "24: Legacy," a short-lived show that sidelined the special agent in favor of a new main character. Now, Sutherland is opening up about whether or not he'd ever consider stepping back into the role that rocked prime-time television.

Will Kiefer Sutherland return to his iconic “24” role of Jack Bauer? He did once before in 2014 for the 12-episode limited series “24: Live Another Day,” but Sutherland recently told GQ magazine that he’s keeping the door open for more “24” because he feels Bauer’s story remains “unresolved.”
“I miss it. It was an incredible experience,” Bauer said of starring on the long-running Fox drama series. “I have learned that you’re just better off not to be definitive about your answer of whether you will do something or not do something. I love playing that character. I do believe the story is unresolved. If something were to be written that made sense to me and that I thought was going to contribute to the franchise then I would be behind it, even if my participation in that were to be limited.”

Queen Latifah’s take on “The Equalizer” landed 20.4 million total viewers immediately following CBS’ Super Bowl Lv. That is 14% smaller than the post-Super Bowl audience for last year’s episode of “The Masked Singer” on Fox.
“The Equalizer,” which started at 10:39 p.m. Et, had a 5.1 rating among adults 18-49.
The 2021 big game itself, a one-sided contest dominated by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, drew 96.4 million total viewers across a bunch of platforms. That tally, which fairly or unfairly (in a Covid year) includes out-of-home (Ooh) viewing, was down 15% from 2020’s Super Bowl Liv and is the smallest audience for a Super Bowl since 2007.
Last year’s Super Bowl, which aired on Fox, initially tallied 102 million total viewers across Fox, Fox Deportes and Fox’s, the NFL’s and Verizon’s digital properties. Fox’s broadcast channel hauled in 99.9 million of that 102 million total as the Kansas City Chiefs defeated the San Francisco 49ers.

The adaptation of the book will be written by Leigh Dana Jackson, who will also serve as executive producer and showrunner. Lee Daniels and Marc Velez will also executive produce on behalf of Lee Daniels Entertainment. The book was originally optioned through the Daniels’ Inclusion Fund. Gerard McMurray will direct the pilot in addition to executive producing. 20th Television will produce.
“’The Spook Who Sat By the Door’ was my dad’s favorite book,” said Daniels. “He’d be so proud that I’m doing this and even prouder that I’m doing this with Gerard and Dana—two bold and brilliant Black storytellers.”
“The Spook Who Sat By The Door” was previously adapted into a film in 1973 with Lawrence Cook in the lead role.

John Boyega has headlined one of the most underrated B-movies of the last decade in Attack the Block, lent support in the buzzy revival miniseries 24: Legacy, taken top billing in $150 million blockbuster sequel Pacific Rim: Uprising, won rave reviews for a gripping performance in Academy Award winning director Kathryn Bigelow’s Detroit, played one of the three leads in the Star Wars Sequel Trilogy and is currently receiving critical acclaim for his work in Steve McQueen’s anthology series Small Axe. All that, and the actor is still only 28 years old, with his swift ascent making him almost the definition of a rapidly rising star.

Filthy Rich and NeXt are both ending after one season on Fox, Deadline has confirmed.
The network will not renew either series for a second season, though both shows will see out their current runs. Low ratings — both shows are averaging a 0.5/3 in the adults 18-49 demo — and uncertainty are behind the cancellation of the series, which were both originally intended for summer runs.
NeXt has aired three episodes of its 10-episode order, while Filthy Rich has aired five of its 10 episodes.
Created by Tate Taylor, Filthy Rich stars Sex and the City alumna Kim Cattrall as Margaret Monreaux, the matriarch of a mega-rich Southern family famous for creating a wildly successful Christian television network. After her husband dies in a plane crash, Margaret and family are stunned to learn that he fathered three illegitimate children, all of whom are written into his will — threatening their family name and fortune.
