After a Netflix cancelation in March seemed like the end of the show, fan favorite “One Day at a Time” will have a new life on the Pop network, beginning in 2020.
The multicam sitcom, created for Netflix as an update of the classic ’70s comedy of the same name, follows a Cuban-American family living in Los Angeles. In this revised deal, the series will air on the CBS-owned Pop for a 13-episode Season 4. Once the full season has aired, CBS has the option to air those same episodes on the main broadcast network.
On Pop, “One Day at a Time” joins a programming lineup that also includes the increasing-in-popularity CBC production “Schitt’s Creek,” from creators and co-stars Eugene and Dan Levy. The slate of network originals also includes the Anna Paquin-starring “Flack” and the comedy series “Hot Date.” “One Day at a Time” will be designated as a Pop original going forward,...

Updated: Two and a half years after Ben Silverman left the company he had founded, the Iac-owned Electus, to join Howard T. Owens in A+E Networks-backed Propagate, the duo have acquired Electus and its majority stake in management/production company Artists First from Barry Diller’s Iac.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed though I hear it is worth under $50 million. I hear Diller recently put Electus-Artists First up for sale and other main buyers who bid for the assets included Entertainment One.
The acquisitions were financed through the investment secured earlier this year from The Raine Group to accelerate Propagate’s global growth through new ventures and targeted acquisitions. Original investor A+E Networks also owns a stake in Propagate.
Electus is the producer and distributor of series including “Running Wild with Bear Grylls” for NBC, “The Toy Box” for ABC, “Jane the Virgin” for The CW...

Actress Krysten Ritter was set to executive-produce The Demons of Dorian Gunn, a supernatural comedy for network Pop.
Jessica Jones star Krysten Ritter may portray television’s most enigmatically misanthropic Marvel hero onscreen, but she’s also fielding multiple creative outlets away from the camera. Last year she released her first novel, Bonfire, and has produced a few TV projects over the years. Yet, a would-be series, called The Demons of Dorian Gunn, would have seen Ritter brandish the title of executive producer. However, the latest development places emphasis on “would have.”

Ritter’s TV project – a CBS and Lionsgate joint venture – was put into development for Pop back in December 2017.
