Exclusive: In a competitive situation, Star alumna Jude Demorest has signed with Buchwald for representation.
Demorest is widely recognized for playing the title role of Star Davis in Lee Daniels’ praised series Star, alongside Queen Latifah, Benjamin Bratt, Naomi Campbell and Lenny Kravitz, for three seasons on Fox. Actress/singer/songwriter Demorest, from Detroit, Mi, landed the title role in the pilot, which was subsequently picked up to series, after a nationwide search.
Most recently, Demorest starred in the Hulu/Blumhouse anthology series Into The Dark episode “Crawlers”, the Saint Patrick’s Day-themed body-switching alien thriller helmed by Brandon Zuck.
In addition to her acting, Demorest is a talented songwriter, penning multiple hits including Fifth Harmony’s Work From Home and Down, each going platinum.
Demorest, previously with CAA, continues to be managed by Gilbertson Entertainment and attorney Kenny Meiselas.

The CW is developing a drama series that hails from Damon Wayans Jr.’s Two Shakes Entertainment, Variety has learned exclusively.
The project is titled “The Pretenders.” In the show, a seemingly normal suburban family is hiding a big secret: they’re actually individual assets in the Witness Protection Program, placed together to provide safe cover for three of the assets who are unrelated minors. Each of them has a closet full of skeletons and a bounty on their head, which means that for these outcasts, fitting in is about more than just social status, it’s about survival.
Brandon Zuck will write and executive produce, with Wayans and Kameron Tarlow executive producing for Two Shakes. Devon Greggory will also executive produce. CBS Television Studios, where Two Shakes is under a first-look deal, will produce.

Judy Greer, Steve Guttenberg, Ellen Wong, Elise Neal, Maria Conchita Alonso, McKinley Freeman and Chico the Dog are set to star in “Into the Dark: Good Boy,” Variety has learned exclusively.
“Good Boy” is the June 2020 installment of Blumhouse Television’s “Into the Dark” horror franchise that streams on Hulu. It will premiere June 12, in celebration of Pet Appreciation Week.
The film centers on Maggie, a woman who gets an emotional support dog (Chico) to help quell some of her anxiety. Only, she finds him to be even more effective than she could have imagined because, unbeknownst to her, he kills anyone who adds stress to her life. It was by Aaron and Will Eisenberg, who wrote the role of Maggie specifically for Greer.

Hulu’s “Into the Dark” horror movie anthology series has set “Delivered,” a pregnancy thriller starring “Napoleon Dynamite’s” Tina Majorino as its May installment, TheWrap has learned exclusively.
Premiering on the streaming service May 8, “Delivered” is pegged to Mother’s Day and follows the story of a pregnant woman whose life is upended when she realizes someone close to her has darker plans for her and the baby.
Along with Majorino, this installment of the Blumhouse Television-produced anthology stars Natalie Paul (“The Sinner”), Michael Cassidy (“Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice”) and Micah Parker (“Wait”).
