Monkey Man (2024)
A fresh take on the revenge action genre
This movie was spectacular, brilliantly shot, wonderfully paced. I'm not surprised that it's getting spammed with 1 star reviews, it will piss off a lot of conservatives, which just makes it even better. This movie is extremely violent and gorey, but had a heart at the centre of it. I also appreciate that the lead wasnt just instantly invincible like in a lot of these films, but showed vulnerability. I hope we get a franchise here, I want to see this character again. Also the cinematography and direction was phenomenal. Not for everyone but I loved it. Oh and for the bots saying people were asleep? I registered 29 minutes of activity on my smartwatch it was so intense haha. If you're queasy about blood and violence this isn't for you. But if that's your jam, this movie is great.
Masters of the Universe: Revelation (2021)
AMAZING!! Don't listen to the reviews
I really didn't think this would be for me. The first 20 minutes I thought this would be something I'd leave my husband to watch on his own.
Boy was I wrong! So well written, Kevin Smith has done an amazing job to find the voice of the show, not his own very distinct voice. The women in the show are well written and well rounded, every one of the characters are voiced SPECTACULARLY and the visuals are so beautiful to watch. This is Masters of the Universe for the adults that watched it as kids, it's a giant nostalgia fest, and it was amazing.
For anyone saying it's too woke, A) did you watch the original? And B) is that just what we say when a show has well developed female characters now? Cool.
Coming 2 America (2021)
It was cute
I don't get what people were expecting here. It wasn't amazing but it was watchable.
Hannah Gadsby's Oz (2014)
Fantastic Art History
An amazing history of Australian art that manages to balance the white narrative and our First Nations artists too.
I can only imagine that the negative ratings are from some men who didn't like Nanette. I find it hard to believe anyone could have issue with this clever, well written and excellently researched series.
I learned a lot and had a great time doing it.
LOL: Last One Laughing Australia (2020)
Excellently cast - will be hard to top
As an Australian comedy fan I was impressed with this line up, although you may have to get some non Aussie comics for season 2, you got a lot of big stars!
Surprised professional straight man Ed Kavalee was in the mix, given that he was paid not to laugh for years on thank god you're here. Then he got booted for being the straight man again.
Glad it ended the way it did, great show, not for everyone but definitely if you're an Aus comedy fan check it out.

Well worth a look
It's bingable, character development is surprising, has a few great twists, can't wait for season 2
