The View: Charlamagne Tha God #2 (2024)

Hill Tha Monster
23 May 2024
Warning: Spoilers
Of course I'm referring to "Unbothered" Jemele Hill. It really takes a special kind of person to be offended by everything Caucasians achieve. Today Jemele's target was on was aimed squarely at WNBA superstar Caitlin Clark while on The View. In a brutally unhinged statement, Jemele stated the reason for Caitlin Clark's success was due to her being straight, white & from Iowa. What?

This clearly crossed the line. Sunny seized the opportunity to chime in as 'crossing the line" is extremely blurred in Sunny's case. Sunny went on to say Caitlin Clark has white privilege, pretty privilege & tall privilege. Yikes? It's tough to play basketball at the highest level unless you are tall.

I gave an extra star because Whoopi made an attempt to right the ship and give credit where credit was due in Caitlin Clark's case. Whoopi generally understands where the line sits since her suspension, and certainly doesn't want the show to be completely cancelled.

The Charlemagne Tha God segment was a snooze fest as one would expect.

Mediaholic: Is 'Mr. Birchum' Rightwing Cringe? (2024)
Season Unknown, Episode Unknown
5/10
Mixed Reaction
20 May 2024
For the record I have rated almost every episode of Mediaholic that I've seen fairly high. Just one comment regarding Lauren's review and an observation.

Observation - I had 3 couples over for a BBQ yesterday. Playing cards would follow. Before we headed indoors to play cards, I inquired if anyone would like to watch two episodes of a new cartoon Mr. Birchum. They were up for it. The weather was nice so we watched it on the deck. I was the only person who knew anything about the program. (Even my wife was in the dark). I'm really the only person in this group that closely follows politics but the whole group leans right.

The reaction was interesting. The 4 guys were really enjoying the cartoon and laughing quite a bit. Interestingly enough the 4 ladies were tepid in their response. Obviously this is anecdotal due to only 8 people being in "my study group".

As for Lauren's review, I will disagree with her on one point. South Park, Family Guy & The Simpsons have not been edgy for a while.

In fact, Family Guy really has never been edgy. Lots of gags though that are hit or miss. Quite a few scenarios in Family Guy are intentionally repulsive. It's a trick they've been using in horror films since the 80's. See if you can get past your repulsion to continue with the show. On top of that, Family Guy is extremely repetitive and, for me at least, not entertaining.

The Simpson's & South Park are edgier but not edgy. They shy away from many topics. I would have loved to have seen both shows go to town on the mandates imposed upon citizens during the lockdowns. South Park attempted a show but they played it safe and the show was a bust IMHO.

I enjoy the Mediaholic videos. I had a completely different reaction from Lauren's regarding Mr. Birchum.

Just my two cents.

The New York Times Presents: Broken Horses (2024)
Season 3, Episode 2

Broken Exhibit
9 May 2024
Really this was a hatchet job as opposed to investigative journalism. It's what The New York Times has been famous for quite a while now. Not only was this show not engaging but it lacked any objectivity. Extremely one sided. Are there a few bad apples in racing. Of course. Are there more in horse racing than in other sports. Certainly not.

Anyone remember Michael Vick?

If you are interested in a program that illustrates some of the horrors, behind the scenes, of "show horses", I would suggest watching Episode 5 from a mini-series Bad Sport. The title is Horse Hitman.

Warning it's tough to watch but that show had me glued to the television with a bad feeling in my stomach.

Eight For Candace
19 April 2024
Warning: Spoilers
As a whole, this show was deserving of a three rating at best....but for the 9 minutes Candace was on, it was worthy of the eight rating IMHO.

Having said that, it looked it was killing Joy, Anna & Sunny to be "cordial" during the interview. It didn't matter as Candace talked about her new movie "Unsung Hero" and she lit up the screen on a very dreary show.

Katie Hobbs is extremely hard to take seriously as she sounds like a child. Her segment was a slow motion train wreck due to tripping over her own words. She has always had difficulty putting together a coherent sentence.

Of course it wouldn't be an episode of "The View" if race wasn't mentioned by Sunny. This time it was "looking back at the Orenthal James Simpson trial and acquital.

Yikes!!!

Completely Unbiased
13 April 2024
Of course the review title is dripping with sarcasm. I gave an extra star for decent production value on what appears to be a limited budget.

This was not good in 2017. Sadly it's aged even more poorly.

This is written through the lens of criminals rather than the victims. I would have loved to see the interviews with the families whose lives were shattered by criminal activity.

Do I believe police make mistakes. Of course I do. All humans make mistakes. Sadly this revisionist documentary makes a monolith of all police. The baiting in this sham is off the charts.

Somehow I wish we would hold derelict politicians to the same standard as police. JMHO.

Brilliant Idea?
11 April 2024
There have been many flashback episodes I've enjoyed over the years. Some have been excellent in fact. For example The Simpson's in the Episode "The Way We Was". That show was episode 12 from Season 2. We're not even 10 episodes into a brand new show and already a flashback episode. Which begs the question what is there to flashback to exactly. How long has Will been in Bel-Air?

A flashback episode with the other characters could have been plausible. Especially if Geoffrey had been the focus. (Geoffrey was my personal favorite character on the show). ...but an episode as such would have had no Will.

This 2 part show was a real head scratcher. JMHO.

Fjine Episode
4 September 2022
I agree with other reviewers that whoever mixed the sound, did it rather poorly. Hard to recognize voices that you have heard many times over the years. Very well filmed. If you have a TV with excellent resolution, the episode will be more enjoyable.

This series is excellent if you record the episodes. I understand advertising is necessary but there is a limit to your patience. Very few times I have been punished with this volume of advertisements.

Personally how fjords were formed is nothing new for many viewers but overall this was produced very well.

Overall quite enjoyable. Just my two cents.

Supertarget
4 September 2022
Clearly this was nothing more than a hatchet job on Dr. Mercola.

As a journalist, when making allegations, it would only be fair to back the allegations with proof.....any proof would be sufficient. None given at any time during this fiasco.

An extremely one sided show with no rebuttal from anyone with anything to say regarding hollistic style medicine. A shame as I would have loved to hear from the other side.

Sadly the NYT has fallen badly over many decades. Accelerating in recent years.

I'm being generous with a 2 rating. Literally one of the worst pieces of journalism, if you want to call it that, I can remember in recent times.

No Errors Here.
20 July 2022
For me this is the standout show from Season 12. Extremely well written & executed with lots of laughs.

It's an episode any generation of The Simpson's fans would really enjoy.

IMHO it is one of the classics.

A Top Episode
27 February 2022
Usually the obligatory episodes of most sitcoms are mediocre at best, with a few exceptions. This is one of them.

No real spoilers here. You have to love Herb's reaction when he see's Kandi.

Berta's interesting hints to improve her Christmas bonus was priceless.

Lots of laughs as more people keep showing up at Charlie's place.

Very Highly recommended.

That's My Name, it's...
27 February 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This episode is one of my all-time favorites.

From Homer leaving Moe's in the snowstorm and wrecking both his car and Marge's car, to Adam West at the auto show and Homer getting sucked in to buying a truck just because the salesman made whip noises was priceless. .....and were not even to the halfway point of the episode.

Enough from me.

This is a highly recommended episode!

Greed!!!
27 February 2022
This is definitely not an easy watch. Very uncomfortable at times.

You just have to shake your head and ask how much is enough. Collecting on insurance when you likely already have more money than you'll ever spend. Greed is not good when you see how low people are willing to go.

Backfired Part III
26 February 2022
Borrowing the title from reviews of the two previous episodes.

I was literally shocked with the amount of hate the producers, writers and actors permeate in this series.

There certainly seems to be quite a bit of projection going on in this. I doubt many people are tuning in to this fiasco.

The Future Home Of Kumatsu Motors....
20 May 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Only Homer could destroy his brothers business designing a highly impractical car. This was a great episode.

From Homer not picking up the hint that his brother lives in Detroit, to meeting his brother, to his brother having a easy time pleasing the kids with all the money in the world, etc.....lot of laughs in this Season 2 episode.

Homer designed a car where the horn played 'la cucaracha'. That might have been the least of the cars problems.

A great bit where Uncle Herb receives a call from the design team, that is concerned about Homer's ideas for the new car. Herb asks them to call back and say exactly the opposite of what they told Herb. Herb puts the call on speaker phone for the kids to hear. The kids are proud of their dad.

A great episode from beginning to end.
