Avatar: The Last Airbender (2024)
Excellent VFx but story and writing is lacking.
Overall i enjoyed the show. The visual FX is a spectacle to watch and is rather nicely executed. The backdrops and sets were all very well done. The characters themselves give tribute the original story and characters but that is there my problems with the show begins.
My biggest disappointment is that If you've watched the movie you could basically can skip this. The general story begins and ends the same.
The writing at times felt forced, bland and "kinda pausing for reaction" bad. The actors themselves i liked, but nothing memorable either.
The princess character and here entourage annoyed me to no end and the whole writing around her felt extremely forced. And while writing this part or this review I even lower my score from 7 to 6/10 so bad it was for me.
Family Switch (2023)
Fun and Lighthearted
The movie doesn't take itself to serious and I had a good laugh through-out many of the scenes. The characters all did their roles justice and I just loved getting to know them and their situations. Yes, the genre has been done many times and isn't anything new. That doesn't mean this movie is bad. If you have a craving for a few good old fashioned laughs you can get them while watching this movie. Overall the movie doesn't try to hard and still manages to be originally funny and succeeds in making something old into a new fun experience. The ending felt a little blunt but the rest of the movie was good and worth a watch if you are in the mood for funny feel good movie.
The Rookie: Feds (2022)
Great show, cast and to the point story telling.
I watched the original The Rookie series, the influences of which you can see heavily in the Rookie feds. The show is enjoyable, light and fast. I like that even in the original the story arcs dont drag on for forever, with some character exceptions but even then it's executed in good and non boring way.
The cast in Rookie feds is excellent, i like all the charactes but the Dads in the show. Purely becuase they try to hard to push a narative into a political plot.
The show is overall great, the cast is well rounded and I absolutely love the story synergy. The through backs to the original is a nice twist.
If you liked the original, give try this!
Prey (2022)
Not for Animal Lovers
Pritty much the title. The movie features ALOT of animals being slaughtered for the sake of attention.
Overall it left a soar taste in mouth for what could otherwise have been and good movie.
Big Boys (2022)
Amazing Show
My husband of twenty years and I simply loved this show.
I has excelent and witty humour, it delves into gay live without making it offensive or obscene. It's not super predictable and over all the characters are well developed and the story makes you play the next episode without even thinking about it.
Great show and a must watch!
Firestarter (2022)
Romantizing Animal Cruelty
Another movie where killing an animal serves some convoluted purpose to an already trying hard story.
I simply can no longer support movies, or TV shows where killing animals is Romanized for feelings from the viewer. I mean, in this instance, the point they were trying to make could have done in a much cooler way with inanimate objects. But no, we have cruelly snuff out an innocent life. I just do not get why filmmakers continue with this antiquated style. It's boring and disgusting.
The only reason I am giving this anything above 1 star is because I think the acting from the young protagonist was passable. The story has several large pieces missing from it, things that should have gotten more attention. The ending was completely predictable, and the supporting actors did not do much for the progressing, empty story.
