The Old Man (2022)
If Bridges could talk his enemies to death...
...he wouldn't have to fight them. This is talkiest, least action series ever. Characters yak and yak and meanwhile viewers have no idea what's going on. Dreadful waste of talent.
Michael Clayton (2007)
A confusing mess
I was an hour in before I had the slightest idea what this film was about. The continuity of the story is way out of whack. Clooney's first time directing. Hope he's not planning to make a second career of it.
The Boat (2018)
Uneventful voyage
Dull one-actor film about a haunted sailboat. There's not nearly tension going on to
discourage you from keeping your finger on the fast-forward button. Certainly was inexpensive to make but I wonder why anyone bothered. A waste of time for all concerned.
Memory (2022)
Neeson's fourth stinker in a row
Neeson's latest action films have been nearly unwatchable. Memory may be the worst of the bunch and that's a saying something. 'Memory' is slow and derivative... an assassin with oncoming dementia. It's also obvious here that Neeson is looking too old to be starring in these action movies.
Sputnik (2020)
Terrific Russian sci-fi film
A bit of a throwback to sci-fi films of the 60s. After a mysterious accident in space the surviving cosmonaut returns with a little something extra onboard. The CGI effects are only average but the plot holds up well.
Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (2022)
What a mess
The first one was mildly entertaining. Two
is a dumb sequel with no coherent plot. A huge dud with not an ounce of cleverness. How does an expensive film get green lit without a script?
X (2022)
Conned again. This is a big bore
Advance 'word' on this was good. Not sure whose word it was but they're wrong. X is mostly dull with some soft-core scenes, a musical interlude, bad make-up, crappy acting and precious few scares. Still waiting for a horror movie that lives up to its advance hype.
Dracula: Dead and Loving It (1995)
Like its namesake it sucks
All these years later and filmgoers are still
wondering how the man who made Blazing Saddles and Young Frankenstein could be responsible for an unfunny stinker like this. Doesn't have a single good joke.
As They Made Us (2022)
Dull Downer
Hoffman is still one of the finest actors on the planet but it was a chore to get through this dull and depressing dysfunctional family story
despite him. Not a film you need to see.
Umma (2022)
Huh?
Pointless and scare-free supposed 'horror' movie guaranteed to leave to saying 'huh?' when it's over. The script is lacking in too many ways to catalog. A complete waste of time.
Black Sunday (1977)
Waaaay too long
The director got permission to film at a real football game and got more carried away with dull crowd scenes. In all this is 90 minute movie stretched to 2:11. Keep your remote handy
to fast forward.
Target (1985)
Slooooowwww
Despite lots of running around and car chases nothing much happens here. Hackman and Arthur Penn's talents are wasted. Dillon never had much to begin with.
Deadfall (1968)
Good luck making sense of this mess
Michael Caine has made some stinkers but this is right up there with the worst. The plot is incomprehensible; Giovanna Rally's dialogue is not understandable and the whole thing is slow and pointless.
The Guilty (2021)
Overwrought one-man show
This is basicallyGyllenhaal on the phone in a police call center for 90 minutes with some other name actors appearing only as voices on the line. The film gets a bit tedious as the story moves slowly along. My attention wandered. Gyllenhaal is quite good but the film doesn't add up to much.
Landscapers (2021)
There's a story in here somewhere...
...although much of it is hidden beneath a pile of the director's artsy fartsy baloney including weird scenes that take place in the Old West. This is a tale that could have been told in half the time with half the silly stuff.
