Peaky Blinders (2013)
A beautiful work of art
There is no series that will ever come close to Peaky Blinders. It is an absolute work of art. I believe over the years I have seen great series such as True Detective (season 1), Sopranos, GOT, Ozark, The Wire, Oz, Stranger Things, Dexter, blah blah blah. This show had absolutely no flaws whatsoever, the storytelling with the compelling gritty characters made this show a complete masterpiece. I struggled to start the show when it first came out on Netflix in the US because I kept thinking to myself "I'm not interested". Obviously my ignorance got the best of me, not becoming open to the world of the fierce Peaky Blinders and what it had to offer me as an audience member. The first episode, I was hooked! I could not stop watching it, the cliffhangers were too perfect not to start another episode. The Shelby family with close friends starting out as small time gangsters and moving themselves up the ladder to take control of Birmingham and surrounding areas in England not just by pursuing to push other competitors out of the picture by gangster tactics but to also take power politically was something so special that it's hard not stay engaged with the series. I truly believe that no other series of this genre will ever compete with this immense work of art. I want to thank everyone that was involved with this series because I loved it! And if you have not seen it, please start watching it as soon as you can!
Fallout (2024)
A very predictable "waste" of time.
The only thing that drew me to this show other than playing the Fallout games was Walton Goggins and Kyle MacLachlan. The trailer for this series looked very promising but ended up being deceiving. The story alone is very predictable with no effort to put certain twist on events along with jaw dropping cliffhangers, just flat out boring. I know that Lucy is naive vault-dweller I don't need to be reminded all 8 episodes. I know that Maximus is a scared man seeking acceptance from the Brotherhood of steel, move it along!!! The Ghouls story was the most impressive story throughout the series other than that it was just ehhh.. CGI was absolutely disgusting and disrespectful to the art of film, stop using that trash when you have talented makeup artist that need work. Please forgive me for this but don't make a season 2.
Five Nights at Freddy's (2023)
For the real fans of FNAF!
Through the years of learning and understanding FNAF through my son I really enjoyed this film. Like many others I had my doubts on how they would develop a creative story to tells its fans through a movie rather than a video game but they nailed it! We were all very impressed from the artistic attributes to the animatronics, Freddy Faze Bears play place and restaurant. The acting was outstanding! Josh Hutcherson and Matthew Lillard gave out extraordinary performances in the film as well as ("Coreyxkenshin" <- for the real fans!)This video game franchise has had significant success with their released video games and I believe that they will have more success with FNAF movies in the future!
The Covenant (2023)
What we need in this day and age.
This was an extraordinary film from start to finish. Besides all of the unique visual representations of this film along with a great plot, this film has more to offer to its audience. It takes you to the depths of actual humanity and how we strive to help each other in the most difficult situations. As a former military member who served two tours in Afghanistan I felt the pain and fear of the realism in this film and the struggles that interpreters faced helping US military efforts. I watched this film three times within a week and every time it became harder and harder to watch because of the relationship between a squad leader and his assigned interpreter which show a bond you may have/had with a close friend, sister or brother. I cried all three viewings of this masterpiece because of the pain you endure from the actor Jake Gyllenhaal. You embrace but struggle with fear of exhaustion from his efforts for survival along with his hardened interpreter who goes above the threshold of an intense enemy territory.
Guy Ritchie crafted captivating way of expressing modern warfare along with modern problems that interpreters face trying to leave their war torn country for a better life.
It's a reality that no one cares about nor want to see.
The exposure is much needed in this society today.
I would also like to mention if Dar Salim doesn't receive best supporting actor at the golden globes, I'll be p*$$ed off! What an outstanding performance!!!
Pet Sematary: Bloodlines (2023)
Erase this film from my memory!
What did I just watch?! This film was absolutely awful. There was nothing in this film I want to remember in fact I want someone to get one of those mind eraser things from "MEN IN BLACK" and erase my memory of this hour and a half of this horrendous film. I had high hopes for the cast as it included David Duchovny and Henry Thomas, but even their efforts in the film were like the efforts of these SAG Writers using CHAT GPT. I think roughly around forty-five minutes into the film I needed my wife to stick me with a rapid release shot of Epinephrine to keep my a** awake. There are absolutely no spoilers to add in. This film is like solving a simple math equation in your head. I have nothing else to add other than don't waste your time, watch a series you've already binged thirty times again or eat paint chips before gazing upon this lesser entity of a film.
