Peepli [Live] (2010)
Showcases the failure of the Nehru Dyanstic politics.
India has been ruled by a single feudal family of the Nehru dynasty 89% of the time since Indias independence. Imagine the democrats/far leftists had been in power in the US 86% of the time and how the US might have turned out. Thats how India is like today. Even the recent economic development is due to natural capitalistic culture of the Indians. The capitalistic Hindu culture has helped create some wealth for Indians to alleviate them from poverty, in spite of this alien Nehruvian socialistic culture that has been artificially infused into India by the leftists. The congress leftists and its cheerleaders need to own up to this mess if they even have a single ounce of decency left in their soul. If you have been in power 86% of the time since independence, are you not 86% culpable for the state it is in? The congress party has the Munchhausen syndrome by proxy. It needs 600 million sick and dying so they can constantly mother them. Imagine these millions of people become like the other rich people of India. Holy cow..that's the end of the congress party. The Horror of it frightens the lefty congress family feudal. When the "India shining" Reaganisque moral boosting campaign cry were put out to the nation to wake up its citizens to act, the lefties cringed and loathed such a thing. They hated it and mocked it. Sonia Gandhi the Eva Peron of India has been fooling the illiterate masses with her caste and religious politics of division and keeping the throne for her two imbecile children who have never done an honest day of labor to earn their keep. Ironically its the Macaulite educated folks of India who cheer lead the ignorant illiterates of India to keep voting for this congressie feudal family regime. India is not a republic. Its an anarchy disguised as a republic. This movie is a good window into this anarchic alien Socialist culture of India introduced by the Bengali leftist intellectuals. The English media of India is another vile establishment in this anarchy. Peepli Live is a satire on this faux republic of India.
Some facts: The C0ngress left party has ruled India 89% of the time and the Nehru feudal family has ruled 82% of that time! Nehru prime minister of India, from 1947 until 1964 17 years Indira Gandhi (Nehru's daughter who took the Gandhi's name just for name recognition so the poor people would vote for her thinking she was related to Mahatma Gandhi)) Prime Minister of the Republic of India for three consecutivee terms from 1966 to 1977 and for a fourth term from 1980 until her d_eath in 1984, a total of fifteen years. 15 years Rajeev Gandhi (Indira's son) was the 7th Prime Minister of India, serving from October 1984 to December 1989/91. = 7 years ManMohan Singh as a Proxy PM for Sonia Gandhi. He took the oath as the Prime Minister of India on 22 May 2004 = 7 years + Total = 46 years Lal Bahudur Shastri (Congress Party) = 2 years P. V. Narasimha Rao (Congress Party) = 1991-1886 = 6 years = 56 years. 56 years out of 63 years of India's Independencece Now, they have Rahul and his sister waiting in line for the throne. They would then have children and it goes into perpetuity. Is this even a republic? I don't think so. And the worst of all, they have blamed everyone else for the poverty and plight in India and have not taken ownership for any of the problems. NEVER! In all this time, the left of India has not built infrastructure like irrigation for the farmers of India.
Slumdog Millionaire (2008)
Boyle showed what the liberal left of India have done to their country
The movie starts off very well, MIA/AV Rahman's O'Saya (MIA was robbed of an Oscar for this) kick starts the movie with the kids ....young Jamal in particular and the ride starts....Its an amazing beginning for this ride....Like a 747 taking off that requires maximum thrust at take off, the song "O'Saya" and its intensity was what gave the lifting thrust along with the cute kids running with equal intensity . I have never seen a movie that started with such a bang. However, it peters out soon and by the time the adult Jamal's is in the story, it becomes a cheesy film to tie the lose ends.
The good thing I liked about this was the showcasing of the slums as it is for real. The slums and the extreme poverty in India is the work of the congress party (The liberal left). they have ruled India almost 85% of the time since independence and this is what they have to show for it. China seems to have done so much better. India's liberal lefties have failed India miserably. It's time to stop India's anarchy (disguised as liberty) and get a China like government in place to clean up the mess.
Recently New Delhi Municipal did not allow new slums to be built in the city...and the left was out in full force demanding the right of poor migrants from rural areas to live wherever they want. India's left help build these slums. and then they have the audacity to point it out and tell the world..."hey look... these poor people are living in slums" while they have controlled India for the most part(government).
so at least we got to see that.
There is also this interesting thread in this story. The relationship between Jamal and his "evil" brother Salim. This was fascinating. Salim was not an one dimensional character. Salim has let down his younger brother a few times...but where it mattered, Salim came through for his brother. Jamal knew it when he tried to explain to Latika that his brother would help them. He knew his brother.
One more thing I did not care for, was the originally story (Q&A) had a pedophile Christian priest exploiting the kids. This was conveniently left out of the story and the "Hindus" killing the Muslims was introduced that was not in the original story. India is a country where you hear Islamic terrorism almost every month. This was PC at its worst.
So all in all there were some very nice parts...particularly the kids. They were amazing. I guess, its worth at least one watch for the kids performance.
There are couple of songs that you may want to download for your ipods.
1. O'Saya (MIA and A V Rahman) 2. Paper Planes (MIA)
Anuranan (2006)
Bad movie.
Didn't like it at all...
The whole movie was so amateurish.
Cringe cringe cringe moments all over.
I appreciate real quality movies like what Amir Khan did with Tare Zameen Par or the regular eye candy fare like Jab we Met.
I enjoy all of them.
But this one is just a bad movie.
Those lines spoken by that Brit woman...Eeeeew.. Those lines were probably written by some 12 year old.
and that husband and wife getting into the car after reading the gossip in the newspaper, the guy approaches her and says "If you need anything....." Uggghh cliché alert! cliché alert!
Dil Se.. (1998)
Confusion Galore. No wonder it failed in India
Is the story background the Kashmir conflict or the North eastern conflict? Since both these conflicts are so different, It has caused lots of confusion.
The conflict in this movie is not about Kashmir, Its about the conflict in the North East (Assam Region). They speak Assamese and several mention of the North east. However, they do go to Ladakh (This may have caused some confusion along with the allegory to Sufism).
If this was about Kashmir, then its a terrible depiction since the Kashmir conflict is primarily due to Pakistan and Its terrorists operating in Kashmir Not home grown resistance (There is that part too...but they are very small). And Pakistan loves to portray the Kashmir problem as an indigenous groups uprising. This is more like the home grown resistance from the Indian state of Assam and that area.
In India where there are so many terrorist bombs going off in different places so frequently, people in India have little patience for being sympathetic to the alleged "victims".
In India, everyone is a minority. A Tamil person has his/her own grievances, so does a person from Benga and Punjab and hundred other "Victims". So when you have a nation that is so diversified and yet pluralistic and democratic, where different ethnic groups have their representatives in the Parliament, if any minority has an issues, they need to use that legitimate process to address their grievances. So the rest of the minorities (The rest of India) are not going to be too kind to the "we are the ONLY minority and we are the only one with a Problem and hence we want to secede" groups.
for me, this movie was a total WTF! No wonder this movie failed miserably in India.
But if you watch this movie like its happening in some far far away land and not based on any real world conflicts, then you may have a movie here.
