Conan O'Brien Must Go (2024)
Barely worth the wait
I'm just gonna cut to the chase here without any detailed spoilers. Overall I think it's a bit of a 'cheap' concept for a travel show. A lot of scenes felt wayyyy too long, others too short. When someone has an interesting story, Conan tries too hard to make a joke. You're traveling to interesting places, Conan! Let us hear people's stories also! You did so magnificently in the past, and knew when to joke/not joke. He's overstepping his shtick here sometimes (in my opinion), and that's a shame.
I'm still giving it a 7, because when it wasn't so forced, it was absolutely HILARIOUS. The imagery was also breathtaking.
Enjoy it for what it is, but don't expect a masterpiece. Maybe season 2 will be better! I really hope so.
Suits: Thunder Away (2019)
Even your coffee is uptight
When love and war come together, someone's gonna get hurt. What an episode to build up to the finale. An army of emotions snuck through the radar in this one. A few episodes ago I stated that they were filling, but this was no filler. This was packed with action... but... to be fair, they could have started at least one episode ago. Most of the storylines from previous episodes won't have an impact on the final episode, and that's just not the way to go in a last season. Everything needs to lead up to something epic. The way characters were gone and reinstated in previous episodes was pretty poorly written. But that's just me ranting. In this episode everything seemed to fit. And everything had a purpose. Enjoy this one for what it is, you won't be disappointed. 9/10.
Hyperdrive (2019)
For those who watched it, don't you agree?
I would just like to point out that I've been really frustrated to see all the "hype" drivers going for a second try to take down missed targets, while other drivers were given a penalty the MOMENT they missed it. Either those drivers were unaware that they had multiple chances, or editors were like "nah we're not gonna show you their second try on that target". Others said that the show felt a bit scripted, and well... not being shown THAT footage DOES make it feel scripted or unfair to me. I really love the concept (as all racing lovers do, because most of the show is awesome), but be more upfront about what is happening. 6/10
Suits: Whatever It Takes (2019)
Whatever Fills
With just a few episodes left, this really felt like a filler episode. Without spoiling anything I can say there's barely any important plot progression going on whatsoever. Come on writers, don't end this without some epic episodes with all the main characters going through legal stuff. And set off some fireworks. This episode had maybe... two interesting minutes that may be interesting for a final episode? This episode was pretty boring, and frankly, useless. Step up your game.
Riverdale: Chapter Fifty-Six: The Dark Secret of Harvest House (2019)
Dark, terrible things
And the quests continue...
Without spoiling anything, I can say that a lot of plot progression is happening in this episode. Now that Betty is in the Farm, we can finally get a better look of some of the stuff that is going on in there. Lili and the crew do a great job in those scenes. KJ and Camila also have some great scenes together, definitely worth a watch. This series has been struggling quite a bit this season, and we've had some pretty mediocre episodes. Now that Prom Night has already set us up for an increase in quality, this episode continues that trend. If they keep putting out content like this I can really see Riverdale grow out to be a good show again. This episode was full of action, drama and plot twists. Sit back and relax. This is a good one.
9/10
Game of Thrones: The Long Night (2019)
Game of Fickled Hearts... and Ghost?
First off, proper credits to all the actors and all members of the production staff who have invested a lot of time and heart into creating this episode. You could clearly see everyone trying their best, which is amazing to see. But, and a very big but... where did Game of Thrones go? Hundreds of reviews have gone before me saying the same, but what happened? Before I go further, let's make this review unique by saying: why did Ghost go with Jorah? Is that some easy way to kill off CGI costs? Stuff like that in the first 10 minutes already ruined my interest in the episode. It just doesn't make sense. He came back in episode 2 as if he were to fight by Jon's side, and you just write him off like that?
Next up, nobody important died. Everyone remembers the Red Wedding. Brilliant plot and brilliant plot twists. This episode had no plot and no plot twists. I for one expected Arya to kill the Night King (voted for that in a bet too, so yay to me for that) since it's been pretty obvious that she would have a big role in the later seasons. All that training to be a sneaky and invisible assassin. I loved that she actually did it, but it was pretty obvious. You can't repair such an episode just by that scene.
Now let's let the heart speak. Why did nothing happen this episode? Everyone was forced into a corner, and nobody said anything important to one another? Or died? Come on. Just think about it. What if you didn't see this episode and heard that the Night King and his army were killed by Arya's blade. What would you have missed? Nothing. There was zero dialogue going on. No secrets unraveled. You know you're going to die, for example Brienne and Jaime (well, apparently in season 8 you can't die), and you don't have anything to say?
I'm ranting a bit now, which I don't like to do. I love this show, but it feels like they don't love their audience anymore. I'm just going to state the obvious: at least 4 main characters were put in a situation in which they should die. And then they don't. Come on. That's not Game of Thrones. You better have something amazing in store for the next episodes, else this series' flame will be extinguished in the Wights' way.
