Dunki (2023)
Beautiful message - for someone with the right ear!
Dunki is a unique take on a situation not known by many in India. In a way, it educates people to some extent. Bur since the problem is not known by many, audiences may not be able to relate to the story.
The story revolves around a group of people who want visit/migrate to UK for different reasons. Their journey, called, dunki, based in the route they take is full of emotions and a roller coaster ride.
The common reaso in migrating to UK for the characters is the need to earn a good livelihood. In today's scenario, many may feel thar there are ample opportunities here and may not think the story to be good.
However, everyone will surely relate to the emotions and when it comes to emotions, no one can beat SRK. That man speaks emotions with his eyes, nose, ear, hair, literally everything. He is so popular for a reason. SRK shines all along in the movie.
But the person who steals the show is, Vicky Kaushal. He is at par with SRK in the screen time he gets, very impactful acting. He has been doing amazing acting and for me, he takes the crown of the best actor in this movie.
Tapsee has always been amazing, and her role in this movie gives her ample moments to prove her mettle. Rest of the actors are doing justice to their roles and are a treat to watch.
Nope (2022)
Nope: Nope.
Either the makers think that the audience is dumb or they are.
Nothing to watch here. 2 stars, mostly for the creativity of an alien creature hiding in the cloud. Though, they have done a decent job in the visual department, but that creature is neither terrifying nor smart. The only thing that's terrifying to some extent is the sound it makes when it hunts. This is a disconnected story, not at all horror, it is comical at times, and the suspense isn't worth spending 2+ hours on.
In short, it's a whimsical fantasy of a kid who sees objects in the sky when they rub their eyes. Instead of watching this, you should probably rub your eyes and look at the sky, your imagination will be more entertaining than this.
Jai Bhim (2021)
Must watch! Does not promote 'divisiveness'
Right off the bat, I am glad to see the title of the movie. It has been years and now the people are comfortable and have resources to make such movies and depict ground reality.
Story is fantastic, acting is powerful, message delivered is resounding, and bgm is honey to ears. Take a bow team!
And for those blaming that the movie promotes divisiveness. The society has been divided for ages, based on state and caste. We live in unity but that doesn't mean that one should forget their identity. Any story that promotes this identity doesn't mean it is promoting divisiness. Learn to cherish each other's culture instead of trying to unify everything into one.
