Epic Movie (2007)
...
Once apon a time, a film was made. I watched it once, and thought it was pretty good. Then I watched it again... It's hilarious... until fifteen minutes into the film. Meet Lucy, Peter, Susan and Edward, four characters who find the four golden tickets to go to Willy Wonka's chocolate factor, with jokes that are funny and well timed. It's only until Lucy discovers Gnarnia the film just... dies.
In a nutshell, they meet a centaur, a talking beaver, and the White B***h. they fight and, well, I don't need to go on without saying there isn't much more plot. Unless you count throwing anything you possibly can to attempt to make a humorous film. Which kind of failed.
So really, watch the first part of the movie. Seriously. But not the rest.
The Simpsons: Tapped Out (2012)
Tapped Out is love. Tapped Out is life.
In my number ten apps list it goes: 10. Tapped Out 9. Tapped Out 8. Tapped Out 7. Tapped Out 6. Tapped Out 5. Tapped Out 4. Tapped Out 3. Tapped Out 2. Tapped Out 1. Tapped Out
But seriously, I think it's a great game. Probably worth nine, but I'm giving it that because of my experience in general. Humorous writing, many references and some great (and limited timed...) buildings new and old. A fun app to play around with, and one to enjoy. I mean, who doesn't like a game that's marketing material is literally "This game will ruin your life." It is filled with radioactive donuts that can speed things up and build stuff. Seriously. That is the game. It's great. It's filled with myPads, Mapple stores and Krustylands. Download it. Buy donuts. Ruin your life.
Gattaca (1997)
Cannot Summarise This Greatness
Wow... Gattaca. I never expected you to be so good. I thought you would be good... but... wow.
Gattaca is set in the not too distant future; about a man named Vincent who wants to be a space traveler, but is born naturally, not the 'correct' way, i.e. created to perfection. He cannot be a space traveler, however, since he is an "in-valid. He finds a person, "German", who gives capable "in-valids", the life of a "valid" who cannot live their dream, due to an incident. In this case, Jerome Morrows has broken his back. So, they switch identities.
Now, before you ask, "Is this guy rating this ten 'cause he is an idiot?" Well, I have a logical explanation. It was sitting on an eight until the ending. My only spoiler is it is sad. It was good enough to rise it by two stars. Oh, yes, a beautiful movie. It did send a message about who should access your genetic code, in a world where everyone has it.
Remember, this film is AMAZING. It deserves the ten. Believe me.
Hot Fuzz (2007)
Big Cop Comes To Town: Awesome Action Will Go Down
You first watch Shaun of the Dead and think "Wow. What a movie!" You then watch Hot Fuzz, and react with "Pegg and Wright: GENIUSES!!!" Never taken a shortcut before? Well, Hot Fuzz is about top cop Nicholas Angel who is moved from London to a more... subtle job in Sanford. Areesting underage drinkers and fellow officer Danny Butterman before he begins work: He rises with popularity. That is... until the murders occur.
Hot Fuzz: Nicholas Angel and Danny Butterman (Simon Pegg and Nick Frost) are our two main officers. Frank Butterman and Simon Skinner (Jim Broadbent and Timothy Dalton) as their resident 'bad guys'. Taking every cliché possible from other action movies, this hilarious police action comedy shows the humor of the writers. Great humor.
Now, this movie is not just comedy, with some gory murder scenes and the inevitable (but great) action sequence at the end. And now, I of for a Cornetto.
Shaun of the Dead (2004)
Shaun, Liz and Ed: Killers of Undead
Shaun of the Dead. Oh, isn't it great? Well, if you haven't taken a shortcut before, SOTD is a British romantic comedy with zombies, or a zom-rom-com. So, kill your stepfather, and bring your friends, mum, ex and her friends to the Winchester, have a nice pint of beer, and wait for this review to blow over.
Our story begins with hero... sorry, I mean, broke salesman Shaun, as he has to go to work, and stops at the shop for a drink. He breaks up with his girlfriend, gets drunk with best friend Ed, and the next day, heads to the shop to buy a drink and a Cornetto. However, there appears to be... something wrong with the streets on London, but Shaun doesn't notice. Back home, he turns on the news to find panic on the streets of London, as reports state people literally being eaten alive. With the attackers, who are dead excited. However, complications arise, they make a plan, take some shortcuts, and they're at the Winchester. I'll stop to avoid spoilers.
A great film! Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright have made a great film. On your first watch, just sit back and enjoy the show. On many other watches, look in the background for other jokes, including The Who zombies! George Romero's opinions even state this as a great film. It got cameos from Pegg and Wright in Land of the Dead as zombies.
A must watch comedy: With high reviews and great expectations. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm dead excited for my date at the Winchester, but first, to wash my shirt. There's red on it.
Injustice: Gods Among Us (2013)
Injustice: A Great 2D Fighter from NetherRealm Studios
Injustice: Gods Among Us is a 2013 video game. A 2D fighter, featuring characters such as Batman, Superman, Bane, and Solomon Grundy. There are many more, of course, and due to this, it's hard to think of four characters out of the 39 (including 6 DLC) characters. To sum it up: OPTION A: Two universes collide, with different ways and different heroes. OPTION B: The best Batman vs Batman fight ever.
Injustice: Gods Among Us is based around an altered universe where the Joker drugged Superman, made him kill Lois Lane and their unborn son, and blow up Metropolis due to this. During Batman interrogating Joker, Superman blasts his way in, and after lines of dialog and throw Joker across the room, Superman impales Joker. Killing him. And Batman wasn't too happy. Five years later, Superman is the ruler of all Earth, killing those who oppose him, the first target being Green Aroow. The alternate Batman, forced into hiding, gets Lex Luthor's help and brings over Aquaman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, Green Arrow, Batman and Joker from the prime DC Universe, to this altered one, to bring down Superman. Lex Luthor, best friend of the altered world's Superman, secretly founds Batmans Insurgency to bring down Superman, with Superman himself killing Lex. After bringing the prime Superman over to the altered Earth, alternate Superman is defeated and peace is restored.
Now, if you watch the trailer for story mode, you can think that this is a full-length movie. Well, it is. In movie form, story mode goes for one hour and forty-seven minutes. But, from story to game play. This is fought on a 2D plane, but characters and backgrounds are modeled in 3D. This is in a similar manner of NetherRealm's previous game, Mortal Kombat (2011). The controls, light, medium, heavy, and character trait, fits in well and is easy to use.
Overall, this game great. The controls and styles are very easy for the most casual of gamers to pick up, yet the most extreme will also find enjoyment, and the in-depth system of frames to start-up and end are available in-game, easing the task of finding out how to punish an opponent. Any Mortal Kombat, DC Universe or fighter game fan will love this new, interesting twist on our well-known DC heroes and villains.
Birdemic: Shock and Terror (2010)
Not so bad it's good... Just so bad it's funny.
Where to start... Birdemic. There. A start. People can describe many movies with a sentence. Unless you come to describe Birdemic. Sure, you may say "It's so bad it's funny", but to describe the content in one sentence leaves you with "Birdemic: Shock and Terror". The shock is there (the birds... which are GIF's stuck in a place on the screen, moving with the camera), but the only terror is... uh...
Aprroximatley 90 minutes, the first 45 involve nothing. Unless you call a creepy salesman getting a girls' phone number, same salesman making a sale, announcing it to his job, having other employees applaud him for 95 seconds (even thought he made them lose a couple of a million dollars, but who cares when you sell something) and bad sound quality something. If you are more like me, however, you should watch this part anyways.
And then the badly animated birds appear and attack, because of global warming or something like that. They kill people, you know, nothing exiting, really. And wow, those kids must hate their mother.
And the ending. I thought when reading reviews, "I can't be THAT bad." Then I accepted the truth. The ending was terrible.
But, ending on a positive note, this movie is unintentionally funny. Hilarious. The lines of poorly written dialog make the movie bearable. I would give this 8 out of 10 if it was intentionally bad and funny, but since, it is not, I give a two. It doesn't deserve a good rating, but the outcome makes it more than a one.
