Moaning Lisa - A Review

A decent episode in which Lisa takes centre stage, however I found the story a little too depressing for a comedy sitcom. "Bleeding Gums" Murphy is a good character and the video game competition side-plot was for me the best parts of the episode. Not a great episode compared to the rest of them so far, but an ok episode nonetheless.

Bart the General - A Review

The best episode I have seen thus far, the introductory episode of Nelson was a classic filled with cunning wit and a pretty good storyline. Grandpa and Herman also being properly introduced was good too.

There's No Disgrace Like Home - A Review

A memorable episode which explores the Simpsons' attitudes to each other in a funny and dysfunctional way. This episode had many firsts as well, for example, Bart says "don't have a cow", The Itchy and Scratchy Show and Mr Burns threatens to release the hounds. A very good episode with memorable moments and fantastic humour!

Homer's Odyssey - A Review

It might not have been as good as the previous two, but this episode was still enjoyable. The episode showed a deep character development of Homer and his personality. Not as many laughs but a grand episode nonetheless.

Bart the Genius - A review
15 January 2019
This episode was a great follow-up to "Simpsons Roasting on an Open Fire" as it developed Bart and Homer as characters whilst sticking to a comedic story. I think that this episode was definitely funnier than the previous episode, there were lots more laugh out loud jokes which got better as the episode went on. The relationship between this father and son showed it's true colours where deep down Homer loves his son but he just wants him to do well and not fool around, so he is very happy and open to bond when it is revealed that Bart is a "genius". There are also more hints that Lisa is more intellectual than the rest of her family but her intelligence is glossed over rather than acknowledged and congratulated. Overall it was a brilliant episode and the writing was superb! 8/10

Simpsons Roasting on an Open Fire - A Review

To begin my attempt at watching all of the Simpson's episodes (not including Tracey Ullman shorts), where else should I begin but with one of the best christmas specials of an animated TV series that I have seen.

The episode does very well to mix humourous and emotional scenes into one story without anything sounding boring or irrelevant. There were some aspects of the story which reminded me of one of my favourite christmas films, "National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation". For example, it is revealed that Homer will not be given a christmas bonus, yet he still tries to make christmas the best he can for his family. There were other similarities such as annoying relatives, broken lights and a message that Christmas isn't about gifts or money, but spending time with family.

Overall this has been a great start to my challenge and I am excited to see how many episodes rate higher than this one because the bar has been set quite high already!

Batman Begins (2005)
7/10
A Brilliant Take on the Origins Story
12 June 2018
Warning: Spoilers
This is the first 'proper' Batman movie that I have seen and to be honest I'm very glad it was this one. Although, this was not the first Batman origin story I have seen, but it was definitely the best of the two.

Batman Begins stars Christian Bale as the eponymous hero, I think that he does a brilliant job of bringing Batman to life. I have to admit, his Batman voice did make me laugh, despite this I believe that this portrayal of Batman is simply superb.

The other members of the cast are amazing actors in their own right and they are pretty good in this movie too. I think that casting Sir Michael Caine as Alfred is an absolutely brilliant choice as his voice fits his role perfectly. (Sir) Morgan Freeman playing Lucius Fox is also a very good choice for that role. And I simply cannot forget to mention Liam Neeson as the ass-kicking Ducard, it was a great surprise to see him during the opening scenes and it was fun to see him play the bad guy for a change also.

This was my first Christopher Nolan film, and I think it's too early to say whether or not I think he's a good director, but the directing was great so I see a grand future for me and other Nolan movies.

On the whole I think the plot was very good, I thoroughly enjoyed the way that the story was written to incorporate lots of well known characters into this trilogy and I like the way they are mostly connected in one way or another, it really puts an interesting spin on the story.

I think that the music/soundtrack is very good, very dramatic and it fits well with the style of film. The CGI, I think was respectable for a 2005 blockbuster.

Overall, a brilliant Batman origins film. I'm giving the film a 7 out of 10 purely because although it was a very good film, I know that there are a lot more movies which I think would score higher, and as this is my first movie review, I thought that 7 was a good score to give Batman Begins.
