The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power (2022)
Great return to middle earth
3 episodes in and I'm hooked. If you're a real fan of Tolkien's books or the Peter Jackson's movies, you'll love this return to middle earth. The multiple story lines are playing out slowly as you'd for this multi season series and the casting is great. Ignore the 1 star reviews from the insecure trolls. In many ways it reminds more of the way the books unfold than the movie trilogies. As even the haters admit, the look of the series is fantastic. So glad the creators have included graphics that show us on a map where the action is taking place We finally get to see places like Numenor. Everything looks fantastic and they've really outdone themselves with the Orcs. Really looking forward to every episode.
The Umbrella Academy (2019)
A show that gets better with each season
Seasons 1 & 2 are very good but Season 3 tops them all.
Season 3 is where the show really pays off with engaging story lines, humor and sci fi adventure.
Supergirl: Kara (2021)
Pretty good ending to a pretty good good series
It's always tough to stick the landing on a series finale. This one does a decent enough job of finishing off the villains, bringing back past characters and setting off supergirl on a new course. The action was great and the other characters stories were ended well. My only complaint was the wedding part was sappy and felt like filler for time that should've been spent on Kara. Hopefully we'll see Kara, Brainy, Nia, Jonn & Winn in other DC shows. Thanks for an entertaining DC series.
Star Wars: Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker (2019)
Satisfying conclusion to the saga
The movie has everything you expect from a Star Wars movie, action, drama humor. The look of the movie is perfect and the story fits in and has continuity of with parts I through VIII. Yes it's not the best one but it's far and away better than the boring Attack of the Clones and tedious Phantom Menace. A very enjoyable final ride on the original story.
Jerry Seinfeld: 23 Hours to Kill (2020)
Classic Seinfeld
If you like Jerry's style of comedy, you love this. A lot of the material covers the technology that wasn't around when the Seinfeld series from the 90's originally aired. Yes it's the same shtick he's always done but yada yada yada it's dam funny.
Batwoman: An Un-Birthday Present (2020)
Upward trajectory
This show captures everything great about Gotham and the Bat-verse Great action, heroes and villains. This show has been getting better and better as it goes along.
Captain Marvel (2019)
Great story, action, humor and fits perfectly into the existing MCU
A very original way to tell an origin story for both Captain and Fury. Lots of action, humor & great story telling. Ignore any reviews that are less than 6 stars.
Those reviews are BS by dudes who have no confidence in their own masculinity. Looking forward to seeing Captain Marvel kick ass in future MCU moves.
Legends of Tomorrow: Wet Hot American Bummer (2018)
Summer camp fun
Just like it sounds, the waverider crew goes to summer camp. Not the best episode of the season but still way better than most of the DC and Marvel shows and more importantly more entertaining than the silly reality shows that dominate tv now
Black Panther (2018)
Another great origin story from the MCU
Ignore the bad reviewers, they've got issues. Great story, characters, acting and action. While not perfect, (what is?) it could've been a tad shorter, it's got a lot of great emotional moments and some well timed humor. Looking forward to seeing these characters in future Marvel movies.
Blade Runner 2049 (2017)
Amazing follow up to original
Blade Runner 2049 is so much better than the original that the 1st one now serves as an intro to Blade Runner world with 2049 being movie that really allows you to dive deep into story line. 2049 pays homage to the original in style but is far better at examining the question of what it manes to be human. Great acting & great set pieces make this movie a must see for all noir and sci fi film fans.
