It's not often I watch something that speaks to me and I wasn't hopeful when it started, but my word, what a treat! It manages to describe my experience growing up as a South Asian kid in a white world, how we're influenced by two cultures and never really seem to fit in either side but actually, we take on the best of both and can really go places with it if it's nurtured. It's a unique perspective and shows how good art transcends cultures and assimilation is inevitable, to varying degrees.
Excellent acting and writing, top tier humour.
Love that it is a mostly female cast, Muslim women's perspectives, especially queer and other marginalised identities rarely get such exposure, never mind with such panache.
Please let there be a season 2!
