Because of the transition of the magnetic poles the planet's atmosphere loses almost most of it's air. Mad is a diving instructor who manages to hide with his wife and daughter in a pressure chamber, but without electricity the oxygen generator does not work and oxygen rapidly decreases. To survive, the family needs to travel by electric car to a new shelter - a big cave with an underwater entrance. The cave seems like a solution, but it is already occupied by another diver Zheka who has his on point of view on the disaster. While Mad leaves his family to find food, drinkable water and medicine neccessary for his daughter, Zheka decides to kill Mad's family to get the opportunity to breathe longer. Zheka loses the fight, the family is reunited, and they go up on board a submarine. There are changes for the better on the surface of the earth - the atmosphere is being restored, they have a chance to survive.
