I love Dev Patel and was so excited to see this movie as were my 18 and 19yo sons. We all LOVED Slumdog Millionaire so we had high hopes going in! We reaaally wanted to love Monkey Man but left the theater disappointed instead. The trailer looked so good but the movie itself was a jumbled mess and was not anywhere near as exciting as the trailer. There was a serious lack of character development for one. That combined with odd,pointless,under developed side plots, cheesy, unbelievable fight scenes and an overly long run time we were left extremely underwhelmed and wishing we had seen another movie instead. I'm confused by the high ratings this movie was NOT good and should have been 30min shorter. 3/10 is my rating and that's being generous.
